The EP (or economic space) is a union that consists of the territories of the states that have joined it. The countries participating in the CES grant each other various privileges on a reciprocal basis. Such privileges, for example, can be free access to the market of services of these states, free movement of citizens between states that are members of the Common Economic Space, as well as the introduction of a common exchange rate for currency exchange between states, as well as the lifting of restrictions on the movement of currency between countries.
The process of creating the CES began at an informal summit held in Almaty. The presidents of such countries as Kazakhstan, Russia and the Republic of Belarus took part in this summit. There was approved a clear plan for the creation and subsequent development of trade relations with the above countries during 2010-2011. It was planned to sign about twenty agreements within the next two years that will be able to ensure the creation of a single economic space. The entire set of documents required for the creation of the CES was signed by December 2010, the changes were to come into force starting from the first of January 2012. After this date, the previously created Customs Union officially turned into the CES. And all 17 agreements signed earlier became effective.
Thanks to the new union, Belarus was able to significantly increase the export of goods abroad.
